A trial of adding Lactobacillus johnsonii EM1 to levocetirizine for treatment of perennial allergic rhinitis in children aged 7-12 years. |
The 24-week, 2-phase, crossover treatment program showed that levocetirizine plus L.j EM1 was more effective for PAR than levocetirizine and that this difference persisted for at least 3 months after discontinuation of L.j EM1. |

Pediatr Neonatol. 2014 Jun;55(3):181-8 Evaluation of the effect of Lactobacillus paracasei (HF.A00232) in children (6-13 years old) with perennial allergic rhinitis: a 12-week, double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled study.Dietary supplementation with LP (HF.A00232) provided no additional benefit when used with regular levocetirizine in treating AR in the initial 8 weeks of our study, but there was a continuing decrease in PRQLQ scores, as well as a significant improvement in individual symptoms of sneezing, itchy nose, and swollen eyes, after discontinuing regular levocetirizine treatment. |
